ROUNDABOUT NIGHTS
... bringing live literature to Chatham and beyond since 2014...

Writers from Medway and beyond perform at our long-running spoken word night, ROUNDABOUT NIGHTS.

We started ROUNDABOUT NIGHTS as a weekly Monday night of live literature upstairs at the Alexandra Hotel pub in Chatham in July 2014. After six months of doing it on a weekly-basis and the pub’s sad demise in December 2014 – we took a fortnightly pop-up version to POP gallery, before finding our new home, Poco Loco, on Chatham Intra for a monthly-ish visit.

ROUNDABOUT NIGHTS has always been a mixed bag of literary treats: you might see a short play; a poet launching their new collection; a short story being told; or, get to contribute to a collective poem.

We also have guest readers who take over for the night. We've had book launches and play previews and guest poets from the UK and beyond.

In 2018, as part of our Confluence: Plant; Grow; Nurture project, we took Roundabout Nights on the road, and visited additional venues around Kent and the UK - including The Poetry Cafe in London, St Andrews Arts Centre, Gravesend, The Brook Theatre, Chatham and The Northern Seaman, as well as keeping a slot at Poco Loco.

WRITING COMMUNITY
We have provided a safe space where our community of Kent writers get the opportunity to showcase their work, get feedback and talk to other writers. If you don’t call yourself a writer you are also welcome to come along and be part of the friendly audience and see some up and coming writers!
