GMP Schools Day

creative writing workshop...

April 2016

We were contacted by Greater Manchester Police's Challenger Initiative who wanted us to devise some creative writing workshops exploring the issues around human trafficking in the UK today for a schools awareness day in Bolton.

Several schools across Bolton were invited to bring their students to a trafficking awareness day in April 2016.

The day started with a script-in-hand reading of MY MIND IS FREE, followed by a talk and discussion about what the schools could do about trafficking and crime locally.

After lunch, the schools were split into two large groups and took part in drama and creative writing workshops led by the Wordsmithery team to get everyone thinking about human trafficking, and explore their responses to it, which can be followed up in the individual schools.

Each student was also given a specially produced copy of the playtext to take home. (Full script available from Books.)
